OH MY GOSH. *^____________^* It's been a little bit since I got the notification but I'm still grinning like a Cheshire cat!

Thank you so much to tinycasket for the DD. Thank you too to all of my friends and followers here, for your continued support and encouragement. I have fun drawing, but the best part for me is the sharing. There's so much of these characters and their stories I have yet to draw and write...and this is truly like a shot of adrenaline!! *^___^* Agggh! ok! back to work!!!

It's hard to believe I've been on dA for over 10 years, but numbers don't lie. In looking back, you can see the story of my work plainly through my gallery and I couldn't be more happy with how far I've come and the places that these years have brought me. I don't think in 2003 I ever thought I would start my own company and travel the US selling my art and stories, but I did. There have been extreme highs and lows, and I've had to take some long divergent pathways and make painful sacrifices to stay on the track of my dreams. I chose the deviations below because they represent where I am now and what I have been working towards all these years - writing stories, and creating characters I can share with others. Sharing smiles and laughter. I'm not sure where the next ten years will go, but I'm sure it will be another decade full of change and excitement. I look forward to sharing the continuation of my story on dA.

SDCC Report

SDCC just gets better every year. It is a lot of hard work and the days are long for exhibitors, especially the small ones, but man is it ever worth it. I've met so many wonderful people and inspiration just pours into you unbidden. This year I discovered an incredible animated movie called The Secret of Kells. If you have not seen it, I highly recommend giving it a watch:


 
It is absolutely gorgeous.

I picked up a Mary Blair artbook as well as lots of new markers and a brush pen from prismacolor I am absolutely in love with. I tested it out by doing booth sketches and was happy to see all of them sell right off the table. One even went to New Zealand!

My booth is in the Cult Yard area which has a lot of independent artists as well as huge pop culture brands such as Conduct Happiness, Mr Toast, Lolligag and Tokidoki. I've had the pleasure of being next to Tokidoki for two years now and they are such wonderful people and so considerate of the booths around them when there's a crowd brewing. Next to that area are the artists and illustrators as well as artist's alley. Gorgeous books are everywhere. I was caught repeatedly by Stuart Ng Books which has a huge collection of illustration and animation books. There was this one on Sleeping Beauty that was a French import. $195 but they had a sample copy out to page througyh and even if you can't read it, the beautiful cels and backgrounds and artwork are totally worth it. Wish I could've brought one home!

Anyway...I guess I've babbled enough. I'm inspired more than ever to get my two children's books finished and add an artbook and webcomic compilation to that order. It's a tall one to complete before SDCC 2015 but I think I can do it. Just gotta keep focused.

It's been a while.

Wow it has been ages since I updated my journal. And since my skin is kind of broken I'm just going to go back to the standard until I can fix things. AUUUGH.
